Jen’s Gems is a small business bakery located in Lake Oswego, Oregon, specializing in home-based baked goods. Going public in 2022, I can provide homemade baked goods for your family, family gatherings, or weddings up to 100 guests.
Baking your memories and baking you happy is what I love to do. While I offer a “standard listing” of baked goods, I also can work with you to make that memory of a family favorite or bake something you do not see on my menu.
My providing the baked goods for your gathering or event frees your time, giving you those extra hours we all often wished we had.

In my family, like many others, food is love.
This has been true in all of the roles I’ve played: mom, wife, daughter, sibling, friend, technical writer and editor, Special Needs teaching assistant, office manager, proposal coordinator, antique motorcycle club president, Army wife, sports team mom, small business owner, entrepreneur…
Starting at age 2 or 3 helping to decorate and cut out Christmas cookies, to my own baking business now, I cannot remember a time or circumstance when I did not want to bake. I baked when I was happy. I baked when I was sad or frustrated. I baked to solve problems. But most of all, I baked to show and share my love.
Several hand mixers, thousands of dozens of cookies and pounds of fudge later, I am still baking and sharing my love. (Although several years ago my family got me a Kitchen Aid mixer!) My family laughingly calls our kitchen The Nielsen Family Restaurant. With Jen’s Gems, I want to invite you to share in the homemade with a mother’s love that has is still being made and shared in my kitchen.
